Close the Gap

New Jersey has the second best performing schools in the nation but also has the largest achievement gap between the highest and the lowest districts in any state.

Medical studies have concluded the most significant time in the development of a child’s ability to learn is prior to pre-K. However, between NJ’s high mortality rates and over 10% of babies being born into poverty each year, it is getting harder to close that gap. The solution to this is Wrap Around Community Schools on low-income school districts from pre-natal to three years olds, which is something the Lesniak Institute is fighting for.
